ACTRESS. WRITER. COMEDIAN.
(Hi, I’m Amy and I’ll now attempt to talk about myself in the third person. Thanks for playing along.)
Amy Grajeda Huckabay is a writer, comedian, director, and classically trained dramatic actress who realized she was funny. She now uses her ability to cry on cue to get her contact lenses out when they’re stuck. She’s also a recovering “cool girl” who spent years trying to get her brother to laugh without realizing she was making a lot of jokes at her own expense.
Her first writing gig was in the sixth grade when her teacher asked her to write the school play and ever since then she’s been chasing that high.
Amy’s work has been featured on lists from Screencraft to the Tracking Board and won a screenplay award at the Napa Valley Film Festival.
She believes laughter is the best medicine (after you try medicine) and that women are complicated, vulnerable, gross, and magical creatures who only get better with age.
She also has a recurring dream that her teeth are falling out but I wouldn’t read too much into that.
Check out THE LAST TWO, a short film I directed, wrote, and starred in. It was featured in the Portland International Film Festival and the LadyFilmmakers Film Fest. It’s basically When Harry Met Sally if Harry and Sally survived the apocalypse. (oops I forgot to write in third person here)
